Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi was born on 24 November 1957 in Al
Hoceima, Morocco. He is married with two daughters. In 1980, he earned a
degree in political science from the Faculty of Legal, Social, and
Economic Sciences at the University of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah in Fez,
majoring in political sciences. He enrolled in the Higher Institute of
Journalism as part of the civil service. Throughout his professional and
diplomatic career, Ambassador Khattabi participated in numerous
training programmes both within and outside of Morocco, covering a wide
array of fields, including international relations, media, and human
rights. Positions: March 2020: Assistant Secretary-General, head of the
Financial and Administrative Control Sector. March 2022: Assistant
Secretary-General, head of the Media and Communication Sector. •
2011/2019: His Majesty's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain. •
2007/2011: Minister Plenipotentiary, in charge of Maghreb, Arab and
Islamic issues in the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and
Cooperation. • 2002/2007: Adviser to the Minister Delegate in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in charge of political and parliamentary
affairs. He also held the position of inspector in the same ministry.

2000/2002: In charge of studies with the Secretary of State for Foreign
Affairs and Cooperation. • 1999/2000: Worked at the Directorate of
Public Diplomacy and Non-Governmental Actors, then head of the
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, in charge of the Jerusalem
Committee file. • 1993/1999: Counsellor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of
Morocco in Cairo. In this capacity, he participated in several meetings
of the Council of the League and the Ministerial Councils of the League
of Arab States. • 1990/1993 in charge of Maghreb studies (Arab Maghreb
Union). • Adviser to the minister in charge of Moroccan expatriates’
affairs. • 1985/1990: In charge of a mission in the Office of the
Minister of Relations with Parliament. • 1982/1985: Working in foreign
relations and international cooperation at the Ministry of Information. •
Participated in a number of Maghreb, Arab and Islamic summits,
high-level meetings of the United Nations General Assembly,
inter-regional dialogue forums, Euro-Mediterranean partnership sessions,
as well as joint committees for bilateral cooperation. • Member of the
Preparatory Committee for the First National Debate for Media and
Communication, rapporteur of the Public Relations and Institutional
Communication Committee. • Member of the Moroccan Diplomatic Club.
